The SRC is committed to fortifying Canada’s HIV research capacity and providing support to the country’s next generation of HIV researchers. Mobilizing Canada’s research talent is critical to ensuring that prevention efforts are appropriately equipped and well-informed to tackle the complex social and structural forces driving today’s epidemic.

Our capacity building efforts actively promote a variety of platforms that stimulate open dialogue and new ideas, facilitate on-going training, mentorship and continuing education for new and experienced academic and community-based researchers, students and trainees, community partners and public health practitioners.

Specific initiatives include:

  • learning institutes
  • our guest lecture series of HIV experts from Canada and beyond
  • courses and workshops
  • applied learning opportunities through studentships and practicum placements
  • student/trainee awards and scholarships.
